Two people were transported to the hospital after a vehicle overturned on the eastbound side of Interstate 10 just west of the Monterey exit.
The collision was reported at approximately 1:45 p.m. between the Bob Hope and Monterey exits. A News Channel 3 crew arrived at the scene and found first responders working to remove passengers from a vehicle on its side on the right-hand shoulder of the highway.
One person was safely removed from the vehicle and taken to the hospital. First responders used the jaws of life to extricate a second passenger.
According to Cal Fire, one person suffered major injuries, while another sustained minor injuries.
The vehicle was removed from the scene shortly before 3 p.m. All lanes are back open.
There was no word on what caused the collision.
