CHESTERTOWN, Md. –  The Washington College baseball team improved to 4-0 in the Centennial Centennial Conference after winning both games of their doubleheader against McDaniel on Saturday afternoon at Athey Park. The Shoremen cruised to an 11-2 victory in the opener and pulled out a dramatic, 13-12, walk-off win over the Green Terror in the nightcap. Washington College improved to 10-2 overall while McDaniel fell to 0-4. Mike Smith was sensational in the opener as he fired six shutout innings to improve to 2-0 on the season. The hosts rallied in their final at bat as they scored three times to pull out a thrilling win. Right fielder Chris Baker drilled a walk-off RBI double to send everyone home.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen took the lead in the bottom of the first inning as second baseman Jack Kingman brough in left fielder Max Ruvo with an RBI groundout.
- Designated hitter Dylan Nepert, the reigning Centennial Player of the Week, launched a titanic home run to left center to make it 2-0 in the second. Center fielder Ben Ruvo added a two-run homer later in the inning to extend the lead to 4-0.
- First baseman Danny Sheeler drove a two-run double to right field to widen the lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the third.
-Max Ruvo launched his first homer of the season to left in the fourth to make it 7-0.
- The hosts scored three time in the sixth to extend the lead to 9-0. Baker produced an RBI single to right and shortstop CJ Gillmer added an RBI walk in the frame.
- Catcher Ryan Colbert drilled Washington's fourth long ball of the game in the bottom of the seventh and second baseman Aaron Deutsch produced an RBI double for the final runs of the game.
- The visitors scored their lone runs of the game in the top of the seventh on a two-run homer by shortstop Tyler Yohn.

For the Shoremen (9-2, 3-0 C.C.)
- Hitting: Max Ruvo (3-for-4, 3 runs, HR, 2B, RBI, BB, SB), Gillmer (2-for-3, 2 runs, RBI, BB), Ben Ruvo (2-for-4, 2 runs, HR, 2 RBI, SB)
- Pitching: Smith (Win, 6.0 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs, 2 walks, 7 strikeouts)

- Pitching: Ryan Martino (Loss, 4.0 innings, 9 hits, 5 earned runs, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts)

How It Happened
- The Shoremen scored three times in the bottom of the first inning on three hits and two errors. Third baseman Joe Curtin and Gillmer delivered RBI singles and Nepert added a sacrifice fly.
- McDaniel got a run back on an RBI sacrifice fly off the bat of designated hitter Austin Goudeaux in the second but they were held off the board until the top of the seventh.
- Baker lined a two-run double to center and second baseman Jack Kingman produced another run with an RBI groundout to make it 6-1 after two innings.
- Sheeler smoked a sharp RBI single to right center to extend the lead to 7-1 in the third.
- The Shoreman widened their advantage to 9-1 in the fourth as Curtin executed an RBI sacrifice bunt and Nepert followed with an RBI double to right.
- The visitors scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to cut the deficit to 9-3. They were aided by a wild pitch and an error in the frame.
- Washington College scored a single-run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI double by Max Ruvo to make it 10-3.
- The Green Terror scored five times in the top of the eighth to climb within 10-8. The visitors had three hits, drew two walks and had a batter hit in the frame. First baseman T.J. McGuire smacked a two-run double in the inning.
- McDaniel kept the momentum going as they scored four more runs to grab a 12-10 lead in the top of the ninth. McGuire recorded an RBI groundout and catcher Matt Purnell launched a one-out three run homer for the lead.
- The Shoremen staged a dramatic one-out rally in their final at bat. Pinch hitter Tommy Buckman ignited things with a sharp single to center and was replaced by pinch runner David Hudak. Ben Ruvo then surprised the Green Terror with a perfect bunt down the third base line. McDaniel third baseman Billy Wheatley overthrew his first baseman and Hudak came all the way around to score while Ben Ruvo advanced to third. Max Ruvo followed with game-tying single to score Ben Ruvo. That set the stage for Baker, who drilled a walk-off double to left center as Max Ruvo scored from first.

For the Shoremen (10-2, 4-0 C.C.)
