(KNSI) – Funeral services will be held on Tuesday for a St. Cloud man shot to death in Minneapolis last week.
Police say 46-year-old Ryan Decker was shot in the head on Wednesday, March 24th, outside a Stop N’ Shop gas station on East Lake Street in Minneapolis.
Visitation begins at 2 pm at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond with the funeral to follow at 4 pm.
Prosecutors have charged 33-year-old Chaz Eric Stubblefield of Minneapolis with Decker’s death.
According to the criminal complaint, officers were called to the gas station for a shooting.
Decker was found with a gunshot wound to his right eye and didn’t have a pulse.
He was pronounced dead at the Hennepin County Medical Center.
A witness, who identified herself as Decker’s friend, told police Decker came from St. Cloud to help her move.
They’d stopped at the gas station so Decker could get a pop.
Surveillance video shows Decker walked into the store without a mask and was told by the security guard he needed one to remain inside.
Investigators say Decker was leaving the store when he made “slight physical contact” with Stubblefield, who was in line.
Stubblefield then allegedly turned and punched Decker in the back, and the two got into an argument.
Police say Stubblefield followed Decker into the parking lot.
Charges say Decker was opening the passenger side door when Stubblefield accused him of using a racial slur, which he denied, the witness said.
Surveillance video shows Stubblefield spits in Decker’s face, and Decker punches toward Stubblefield.
According to the complaint, Stubblefield then raised a gun toward Decker’s head and shot him before leaving.
In an interview with police, Stubblefield admitted to shooting Decker, saying he bumped into him using a racial slur.
Stubblefield told police he threw the gun in the river after the shooting.
