AMES, Iowa — The No. 1 Oklahoma softball team completed the series sweep over RV/RV Iowa State with a 22-2 run-rule win on Sunday to improve to 25-0.

The OU offense fired on all cylinders in the series finale, registering 22 runs on 18 hits including three home runs, one grand slam and nine extra-base hits. The win marked Oklahoma's 55 consecutive conference series victory, having not lost a conference series since 2011 (51-0-4 in that span).

Freshman Tiare Jennings launched her first career grand slam and 15th home run of the season in the third inning. In her next at-bat, she laced a two-RBI double to left field for her fifth and sixth RBIs of the day. It marked the second time this season that the San Pedro, Calif., native has batted in six runs in a game, the first coming in the season opener versus UTEP on Feb. 11 when she hit three home runs.

Fellow freshman Nicole May was exceptional in the circle for the Sooners, going four innings and allowing two runs, two hits and four walks to go with six strikeouts.

OU struck first in the first inning, putting three runs on the board courtesy of a three-run home run from sophomore Kinzie Hansen, her 14th of the season. The Sooners began the game with three consecutive hits from the one- through three-hole hitters: Jennings, senior Jocelyn Alo and Hansen.

Alo extended her hit streak to 38 games in the second inning on a two-RBI double that hit off the center field wall. Iowa State put their first run on the board in the bottom frame of the second off a bases-loaded walk to make it 5-1, OU, through two innings.

Freshman Jayda Coleman added OU's sixth run in the third on an RBI single to left before Jennings blasted the first grand slam of her career to bring OU's run total to 10 through three. The Cyclones put their second run across in the bottom of the third on an RBI double from Alesia Ranches.

The Sooners exploded for 10 runs on eight hits in the fourth inning. Senior Jana Johns and Jennings got the scoring started with RBI doubles before junior Grace Lyons singled to left field to plate another OU run. After an RBI single from Grace Green and double from Coleman that brought in a pair, sophomore Mackenzie Donihoo ripped her fourth home run of the season and the Sooners' 84th of 2021 to make it 20 runs through four innings.

Green and senior Lynnsie Elam tacked on two more runs in the fifth off an RBI single and sac-fly RBI, respectively. Sophomore left-handed pitcher Alanna Thiede pitched the fifth and final inning for OU, striking out one and allowing two hits but leaving one stranded following a double play and flyout to make the final 22-2, Oklahoma. The five-inning win was OU's 18th by run rule of 2021 and fourth game this season the team has put up 20-plus runs in a contest.

Nine Sooners recorded a hit in the contest, with six registering two or more. Jennings, Coleman and Green all went 3-for-5 in the box to pace OU. Jennings batted in six runs, Coleman brought in three and Green plated a pair. Hansen and Donihoo each registered three RBIs on the day via their three-run home runs.

With the win, the 2021 team improves their program record for the best unbeaten streak to start a season in program history at 25-0. Oklahoma also improved its win streak to 32 consecutive games and Big 12 regular season unbeaten streak to 46 contests.

The team returns to action in Norman for a three-game series with Kansas at Marita Hynes Field, April 1-3.
