Mets owner Steve Cohen announced that he hired law firm WilmerHale to review the Mets’ “workplace culture… with a focus on sexual harassment, misconduct and discrimination issues,” according to Ken Rosenthal, Katie Strang and Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic. The announcement came in an organization wide email on March 19.
In other news, shortstop Francisco Lindor and the Mets are still looking to find common ground in contract extension negotiations. According to Tim Healey of Newsday, Lindor is asking $385 million over 12 years in his counteroffer while New York is giving its “best and final” offer of $325 million over 10 years.
The Mets have a Lindor-imposed deadline of March 31 to reach a deal with the four-time All-Star. If Lindor gets his way, it would be the second-largest contract in MLB history.
The Mets and Cardinals played to a 3-3 tie thanks to a solo homer from St. Louis shortstop Edmundo Sosa in the bottom of the ninth on Monday afternoon in Jupiter, Florida. With the tie, New York finishes its spring training schedule with a record of 11-11-2.

Mets owner Steve Cohen announced Monday afternoon via Facebook Live that New York will bring back its black jerseys for the first time since 2009. Cohen said the black jerseys will be worn for “a few games” this season.
“I think people want to celebrate another example of celebrating Mets history,” Cohen said. “The team performed well at that time, and people have fond memories of that, and I’m happy to accommodate the fans. Most of the fans want it, and the players want it… We have some designs that I want the players to be involved in picking out the right design.”
The Mets’ Twitter account said the team has worked with MLB and Nike to bring back the famed jersey and replicas will be available during the holidays. More information will be announced in the weeks ahead, according to the account.
Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is launching and auctioning off his own NFT with benefits going to minor league players, according to Joon Lee of ESPN. Tommy Wilson, a pitcher for Mets Double-A affiliate Binghamton, helped design the NFT. An NFT, nonfungible token, is a proof of ownership over a digital product.
SNY released its 2021 season predictions on Monday afternoon with two staffers selecting the Mets for their World Series pick. Seven of 13 staffers picked New York to win the NL East with the other six picking Atlanta, and all 13 staffers picked the Mets to make the playoffs.

First baseman Anthony Rizzo and the Cubs have stalled contract talks to where there likely won’t be a pre-openingday extension, according to Patrick Mooney of The Athletic. This increases odds that Rizzo will test the waters of free agency after the final season on his contract.
Marlins pitcher Sixto Sánchez will be optioned to the team’s alternate training site to build up before joining the big leagues, per Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald. The move is not injury related.
The Red Sox are talking to a pair of free agent pitchers, including lefty Jesse Biddle and righty Héctor Rondón, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com.
Right-handed pitcher and former Met Nabil Crismatt earned a spot on the Padres’ opening day roster after an impressive performance in the Cactus League, according to Dennis Lin of The Athletic. Crismatt finished the 2020 season with a 3.24 ERA through six games with the Cardinals.
Rougned Odor was informed that he will not make the Rangers’ opening day roster, ending his time with Texas, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. The second baseman has been with the Rangers since his rookie season in 2014.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has said right-handed pitcher Dustin May will be the team’s fifth starter, per Jorge Castillo of the LA Times. May pitched to a 2.57 ERA in 2020 through 12 games for Los Angeles.
