Brazilian winger Gabriel Pereira is nearing an exit from NYCFC via a transfer, sources briefed on the deal tell The Athletic.
Multiple sources believe the destination is a club in the Middle East, specifically Qatar. The deal is not 100 percent finalized yet but has gotten close enough for Pereira to have already departed NYCFC.
Pereira, 21, has six goals and three assists this season for NYCFC. The winger joined during the 2022 season from Brazilian club Corinthians for a reported fee north of $5 million. He has 15 goals and eight assists in 56 career NYCFC appearances. He was signed to NYCFC as a U-22 initiative player, which means NYCFC now has two open spots under that roster designation. Pereira’s contract paid $659,500 in guaranteed compensation for 2023, according to the most recent salary data released by the MLS Players’ Association.
NYCFC is 13th in the Eastern Conference with 26 points after 24 matches.
