NEW DELHI: It could be advantage Congress in Karnataka with four out of 11 exit polls predicting a clear victory for the grand old party in the 2023 assembly elections. However, the prospect of a hung assembly also looms large with the poll of polls predicting neck and neck fight between the BJP and the Congress.
Only one pollster has predicted a clear win for the ruling BJP in the 224-member state assembly.
While the Times Now-ETG, Axis My India, CNX and Today's Chanakya have predicted a Congress victory, the CGS has given a clear majority to the BJP.
However, 6 pollsters predict it could be hung assembly in Karnataka with the Janata Dal (Secular) of Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy playing the kingmaker once again.
According to the poll of polls, the Congress could win 107 seats , the BJP 92 and the JD(S) 23.
Which of these predictions will hold true will be known on May 13 when the votes will be counted.
Here's what the different pollsters have predicted:
The P-Marq exit poll predicts 85-100 seats for the BJP with a vote share of 36%, while the Congress may win 94-108 seats with 40% of vote share. However, it will be the JD(S) with 24-32 seats that could decide who forms the next government in the state.
The Pollstrat predicts 88-98 seats for the BJP and 99-109 seats for the Congress. The JD(S) may win 21-26 seats and play a decisive role again, the prediction says.
Matrize Agency predicts 103-118 seats for the Congress, 79-94 seats for the BJP and 25-33 seats for the JD(S).
Jan Ki Baat predicts 94-117 seats for the BJP, 91-106 for the Congress and 14-24 for the JD(S).
The Times Now-ETG exit poll says the Congress is likely to win 113 seats and the BJP 85.
The CNX predicts 115 seats for the Congress and 85 for the BJP. The JD(S) is likely to win 22 seats.
The CGS exit poll survey predicts simple majority for the BJP with 114 seats. The Congress may win 86 seats and the JD(S) 21 seats.
C-Voter predicts 66-86 seats for the BJP and 81-101 seats for the Congress. The JD(S) may end up winning 20-27 seats.
The Congress would hope the predictions of AxisMyIndia turn true. The pollster has said that the grand old party will win 122-140 seats and the BJP 62-80.
The Chanakya has predicted 120 seats for the Congress and 92 for the BJP. The JD(S) could win only 12 seats.
The Rajneeti predicts a hung Karnataka assembly with the BJP winning 100 seats and the Congress 92. The JD(S) with 31 seats could play a crucial role.
In the 2018 assembly elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party winning 104 seats, followed by the Congress at 80 and JD(S) at 37. There was one independent member, while BSP and Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janata Party (KPJP) had one legislator each.
