A pedestrian was killed late Saturday night after he was hit by a pickup truck at the Peters Creek exit on the Glenn Highway, Anchorage police say.
The man, who was not identified, was struck by the truck that was northbound on the highway, police said in an update Sunday.
The man had entered the lane of travel on the highway when he was struck, police spokeswoman Renee Oistad said Monday. Oistad said she could not provide any additional information and said the investigation is ongoing.
Police responded to reports of the incident at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, they said. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said. No citations have been issued; the investigation is ongoing.
The man’s death marks the third time this year someone has died after being struck by a vehicle.
A 20-year-old man died in January after he “entered Abbott Road running northbound” and was struck by a Dodge Ram, police said. The truck’s driver was charged with operating under the influence.
Also in January, a 77-year-old man died after being struck in a hit-and-run on Spenard Road.
