Nighttime paving and lane marking operations will cause ramp closures and traffic detours with resulting delays and slowdowns at the Massachusetts Turnpike Exit 51 ramp area in Chicopee beginning Monday, Oct. 10, the state Department of Transportation announced Friday.
The work area will extend the length of Exit 51 to Burnett Road and its intersection with Interstate 291. Detours around the affected areas will be posted with guidance to appropriate routes.
Drivers using any of the areas listed should expect delays, reduced speeds and some inconvenience.
DOT officials said the night operations are planned to run from Monday through Thursday, Oct. 13, beginning at 7 p.m. and continuing until 5:30 a.m. the next day. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
