SPARTANBURG, SC. – Fresh off his T-5 finish the last time out, graduate transfer Stuart Fuller shot a collegiate career low round of 5-under 67 in Round 1, followed by a round of 4-under in Round 2 to propel the Panthers to the lead in the Carolina Collegiate after 36 holes.  Fuller's 36-hole score of 135 is a tie for the 3rd lowest 36-hole score in Panther history for an individual and has him in second place, one stroke behind the individual leader after two rounds at 9-under par.

The Panthers shot a round of 272 in Round 2 which broke the HPU record for lowest round in team history by three shots, breaking the mark set in the 2020-21 season at the Raines Intercollegiate.  The Panthers also set the program record for low round versus par as they finished 16-under in Round 2, three strokes better than the previously mentioned round in 2020-21 at Raines Intercollegiate.

Brady Gregor"Was a great day to go low but we're not done yet. I couldn't be more proud as a coach of what the team did today. I am hoping they are starting to believe how good they are cause this showed on any given day they can compete with the best in the country. Pretty special day when the counting scores were bogey free in the second round and Stuart well…just go see what he did cause we can't talk about that just yet. We play to win and we have a great chance to do that tomorrow and it would be the icing on the cake after such a special day. Round 1
Fuller continued his strong play fresh off a top-five finish at the Badger Invitational last week to claim the solo lead after the first round of play.  Fuller fired a collegiate career low round of 67 to finish at -5 as the individual leader.  Fuller's score of 5-under helped lead the Panthers to third place after Round 1.  The Panthers score of a 285 (-3) tied their best round of the season, which was the final round in Wisconsin.  High Point trailed UCF by 1 stroke and FGCU by 3 strokes after Round 1.

Fuller had a clean scorecard with no bogeys or worse on the card and five birdies.  Fuller birdied 5 and 6 on the front and 14 and 16 on the back to lead the Purple and White.  Fuller finished his round with a fifth and final birdie on the par-5 18thChristian Castillo continued his steady play with an even par round of 72.  Castillo got to 2-under on the day through 13 with birdies on holes 7 and 13, which is the hardest handicap hole on the course.  However, two bogeys on 14 and 17 brought him back to level par.  Fellow grad transfer Price overcame a slow start and battled home with an impressive even par round of 72.  Price found himself 3-over after 8 holes before he jumped on the birdie train.  Price had four birdies in six holes on 11, 13, 15, and 16 to get back into the red.  A double bogey on 17 dropped him to 1-over, however Price birdied his final hole of the morning round to finish at even par.  The final counted score of Round 1 belonged to freshman Charlie Barr who finished with a score of 2-over 74.  Barr bogeyed his opener, but was able to level back to even with a birdie on the par-5 6th.  Barr had a run of three bogeys in his next 8 holes, but birdied the 18th hole to finish at 2-over.   Adam Hooker playing as an individual shot a 4-over 76 and Gregor Meyer shot a 6-over 78 in Round 1.

Round 2
Fuller continued his impressive play in Round 2 as he fired another notable under par round of -4 to finish at -9 overall, one shot out of the lead.  Fuller again had a clean card with no bogeyes and birdies on holes 2, 5, 8, and 13.  Fuller birdied 3 holes on the front – the par-4 2nd, the par 4 5th, and the par 3 8th.  Fuller was clipped by one stroke by his teammate Meyer, who shot a 5-under 67 to match Fuller for low round of the day for the Panthers.  Meyer had a huge response in the afternoon, with an eleven stroke difference from Round 1.  Meyer also did not have any bogeyes in Round 2 and birdied holes 3, 11,13, 14, and 18.  Price joined Fuller with a matching 68 as Price continued to feed off his strong finish in Round 1.  Price had another clean card in Round 2 with no bogeyes and additional birdies on 9, 17, and 18.  The final counted score of Round 2 belonged to Castillo, who also had zero blemishes on his round with a 3-under round of 69.  Castillo had back to back birdies on 9 and 10 and finished with a birdie on 18.

Despite not counting in the team score, Barr also shot an under par round with a 2-under 70.  Hooker, competing as an individual, shot an under par round with a 2-under 70.  In total, the Panthers had 24 birdies and only 4 bogeyes on the day amongst all 6 teammates for an incredible Round 2 score of 272 in which they seized the tournament lead by 7 shots heading into the final 18.
