North Redondo is also the western terminus of the Green Line, a section of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system that carries passengers across South Los Angeles and its suburbs. Indoors: The owner of this house is a designer, and his firm, Slobri Design + Studio, supervised a recent remodel that aimed to modernize the space while retaining a midcentury aesthetic.
The front yard has a grass lawn framed by succulents. A concrete path leads from the street to a bright yellow front door that opens into the living room.
The living area has space for a seating area as well as a dining table. One wall is paneled with wood reclaimed from the home’s original hardwood floors, and sliding-glass doors open to the rear deck. This space, like the rest of the house, has bamboo floors.
To the left of the front door is a galley kitchen with a graphic red-and-white-tile backsplash and new appliances. For additional counter space and seating, a floating breakfast bar is anchored to one wall.
The owner converted the hallway off the living space into a home office, brightened by small rectangular windows along one wall. At the end of the hall is the master bedroom, which has an electric fireplace, sliding-glass doors to the rear deck and an en suite bathroom with slate floors and a built-in vanity.

Sebastopol, about 60 miles north of San Francisco, is beloved for its small-town feel and easy proximity to the wineries of Sonoma County. By car, it’s about 20 minutes west of Santa Rosa and about 20 minutes east of the Pacific Ocean. This house is a 10-minute drive from the center of the city, where small art galleries and independent restaurants are the main draw.
The property includes two guest or office quarters and a number of walking paths. The owners, who bought it in 2018, undertook a remodel that included updating the electrical and plumbing systems.

On the right side of the room, two glass doors lead to an office with built-in bookcases and white wood-trimmed walls. A doorway on the left side of the room leads to the kitchen and dining areas. In the dining space, a bench is built into a wide window for extra seating, and an interior cutout looks into the kitchen.
The kitchen cabinets are white, with white-marble counters. The appliances are stainless steel and were added during the renovation.
A hallway off the kitchen leads to the two bedrooms and the bathroom. Nearest to the kitchen is the guest room, which has space for a full-size bed. At the back of the house is the master bedroom, where two skylights are set into a wood-beamed cathedral ceiling. The master has its own sitting area and a fireplace, as well as direct access to a patio with a hot tub.
Between the two bedrooms is a bathroom with a large walk-in shower that has a river-rock floor.
Outdoor space: The kitchen and the office in the main house have access to paths that wind around the property. Off the master bedroom is a partially covered stone patio with a wood-framed hot tub.
To the side of the house is a garage that has been converted into living space. Residents and guests park on the driveway, but have access to an electric charging port inside the garage.
Behind the main house is an old pilot house, moved onto the property by a previous owner who worked as a ferry captain. Underneath it is a wine cellar with wall coverings made from old newspapers.
The landscaping is varied: Succulents share space with fruit trees and a vegetable garden. The walking paths weaving through the outdoor spaces are paved in stone and, in some sections, bordered by low rock walls.
