A man died after his pickup truck crashed into a guardrail off the Long Island Expressway just east of Exit 46 in Plainview, police said.
The man, 32, was driving a 1997 Chevy pickup westbound at 3:25 p.m. when it veered off the expressway and hit the guardrail, Nassau County police said. He was ejected from the truck and sustained severe trauma, police said. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police had not released the man's identity as of late Saturday night. The accident is under investigation, they said.
All three westbound lanes on the expressway were closed at Exit 46 for about four hours as a result of the crash.
