Reported just before 3 p.m., the crash shut down the Exit 27a off-ramp to Route 8 northbound, the department said. Motorists were instead advised to take Exit 27, continue onto South Frontage Road, take a left onto Warren Street and proceed to the Exit 1 on-ramp to Route 8 northbound.
The department estimated the closure would last four hours or less. As of 4:22 p.m., the shutdown was ongoing.
