Sharon Osbourne underwent ketamine therapy after she was ousted from “The Talk” in March 2021 amid allegations of racist behavior.
“If you’re a person that stuffs things [down, ie, suppresses things], ‘I’m fine, I’m fine,’ this drug relaxes you,” the TV personality told UK’s The times of the drug, which is used in practice to induce dissociative anesthesia, sedation, amnesia and pain relief.
Osbourne, 69, described her experience with it, saying she could still function while taking in its calming effects.
“You’re not out completely. You can hear, you can talk, but you’re so relaxed, and you can’t bulls–t on it,” she said, adding, “It’s a truth drug.”
The former talk show host said she turned to ketamine therapy after getting dragged by the public over the ordeal.
“They were saying they were going to come in the night, cut my throat, cut [my husband] Ozzy’s throat, cut my dogs’ throats,” she recalled. “I said, ‘I ain’t going out, I ain’t doing anything.’ I just couldn’t stop crying because all I was thinking about was all the things that I’ve gone through in my life, and now they’re calling me a racist, this is insanity.”
Osbourne exited the CBS show with a payout of up to $10 million last year after she defended Piers Morgan’s harsh criticism of Meghan Markle. At the time, viewers (and some of her co-hosts) claimed her words were “racially insensitive.”
She got into a heated argument over racial issues with co-host Sheryl Underwood as she showed support for Morgan, 57, who left his own morning show after blasting Markle’s interview with Oprah.
Osbourne tweeted a lengthy apology saying she doesn’t “condone racism, misogyny or bullying” but CBS launched an internal investigation and two weeks later Osbourne quit.
She has since taken up a new hosting position alongside Morgan on his new talkTV network, they announced in March.
