The Chicago Bears kept the Detroit Lions winless on the season with a 24-14 win on Sunday but lost both running back David Montgomery and defensive tackle Akiem Hicks to injuries in the process.
Montgomery was the highlight of the Bears' offense before being ruled out with a knee injury in the fourth quarter, rushing for 106 yards and two touchdowns. He suffered the injury while attempted to rush up the middle, holding his knee after being brought to the turf. He eventually walked off the field, with help, and went straight back to the locker room.
Hicks left the game after getting up slowly with a groin injury from a tackle attempt on the first defensive snap. He spoke with the team's medical staff for a bit on the sideline before heading back to the locker room. He was also eventually ruled out for the remainder of the game.
In his second career start, Chicago quarterback Justin Fields completed 11 of 17 passes for 209 yards but no touchdowns. Receiver Darnell Mooney was on the receiving end for five of those passes, compiling 125 yards.
Detroit's Jared Goff threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.
