TROY, Vt. (WCAX) - Just before Noon Saturday fire crews were called to the ‘River Road Covered Bridge’ on Veilleux Road in Troy after it caught fire. The damage causing the bridge to collapse and the tragic images shared with us by photographer Mark Rappold. The bridge was built in 1910 and is the only covered bridge in Troy.
Police have not released specific details about how the fire started, but we will have more information as it is released. They say this is an active driving route and a replacement bridge will need to be constructed.
