ROUND ROCK, Texas – Jaret Godman pitched 6.0 scoreless relief innings and Tyler Hardman lined the game-winning single to right field in the bottom of the 10th inning to lead the No. 25 Oklahoma baseball team to a 4-3 comeback win over No. 21 Auburn in the first game of the Round Rock Classic at Dell Diamond.

The Sooners (3-2), which trailed 3-0 in the fifth inning, scored single runs in the eighth and ninth innings to send the game to extras. Hardman stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs in the 10th and placed a base hit out of reach of the diving second baseman in shallow right center field – enough to score Tanner Tredaway from third base. OU handed Auburn (5-1) its first loss of the season.

"I'm really excited for the players, how they've come together, and for Jaret Godman. Nobody works harder than Tyler Hardman at his craft, and I was really excited to see him come through there," Oklahoma head coach Skip Johnson said. "(This win) shows the kind of passion and spirit they have for the game. That's what it was, more than anything, never giving up and staying with the process of the game all the way through. It showed what the OU Sooners are all about, it showed what a Sooner is about."

Godman entered the game in relief of starter Wyatt Olds with two runners on base and no outs in the fourth inning. He induced a line out and a 1-2-3 double play to end the inning, then worked around a double in the fifth and ended the sixth with a 6-4-3 double play. He retired 12 of his final 13 batters and gave way to Jason Ruffcorn (1-0) who retired all three batters he faced in the 10th, striking out two.

Jimmy Crooks, who went 3 for 3 in the game, led off the eighth inning with a base hit and scored on a single by Diego Muniz to cut the deficit to 3-2. In the ninth, Peyton Graham drew a one-out walk and scored on Hardman's sacrifice fly to tie the game, 3-all. Tredaway singled to lead off the bottom of the 10th, and after a sacrifice bunt and a fly out, Graham and Crooks walked, setting up Hardman's single.

Hardman went 2 for 4 and drove in three of OU's four runs in the game. Conor McKenna finished the game with two base hits, both of which came in the eighth and ninth innings, and both with two-strikes in the count. His eighth-inning single put Crooks into scoring position.

The Sooners had scoring opportunities early, putting runners on base in each of the first five innings. OU finally broke through in the fifth, when Hardman drove his first two-out RBI single to bring home Brandon Zaragoza, who reached on a base hit. That made the score 3-1.

Auburn scored a run in the first inning and two runs in the third. Left fielder Judd Ward singled to start the first and moved around to score on a double play. Solo home runs in the third inning by shortstop Ryan Bliss and catcher Steven Williams made the score 3-0. Tigers reliever Seb Thomas (0-1) took the loss.

Oklahoma continues in the Round Rock Classic on Saturday. The Sooners play Texas A&M at 6 p.m.
