A.J. Brown responds to trade rumors after crushing Eagles playoff exit: 'Gotta be prepared' - New York Post

There’s been no solid indication that the Eagles have any interest in trading away star wide receiver A.J. Brown, but he was pressed about trade rumors on Wednesday during an appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” by host Kay Adams — and he didn’t quiet any rumblings from spreading.

Outside of stepping away from X and scrubbing his Instagram account of any Eagles-related content, there has not been any sign that Brown was unhappy in Philadelphia or that the organization was looking to move him.

But Brown didn’t do much to quell any rumors in his tepid response on Wednesday morning.

“I don’t know. Maybe they know something I don’t know,” Brown said. “I kinda been through this before. I’m a vet. I’ll remain quiet. If something happens I’ll be waiting by the phone and if not, I’ll be right here.”

The origins of the rumors are a bit murky, but Eagles Today pointed to Philly Sports radio station 94.1 WIP teasing a potential trade of Brown as the genesis of it.

When pushed later in Wednesday’s interview about it, the 26-year-old told Adams it wasn’t something that he was worrying about.

“I’m just not worrying about any of that right now,” Brown said. “If it is, it is. If it ain’t, I don’t know. I think you just gotta be prepared. It’s a business at the end of the day. I’m just trying to handle it the best way I can.”

Fellow Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith was also part of the show, and he jumped in to add that Brown “ain’t going nowhere.”

While Brown missed the final two games of the year due to a knee injury and will sit out the Pro Bowl, he is coming off a 2023 season where he had 106 receptions for 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Eagles were bounced out of the playoffs in an embarrassing 32-9 wild-card round loss to the Buccaneers after limping to the finish line of the regular season.

“I think over a period of time, things just turned to rabble,” Brown said. “It was like a domino effect. We tried to stop the bleeding but we just ran out of time.”

Brown was also asked about his knee and said the injury was “nothing to be concerned about” and he was “all good.”

And he said the knee wasn’t why he was opting to skip the Pro Bowl.

“I just decided not to go to the Pro Bowl,” he explained. “I don’t wanna pretend I wanna be there when I don’t. I try to look out for the other guys that haven’t been to the Pro Bowl yet.”
