Mohamed Salah has been advised to leave his Liverpool achievements in the past by securing a transfer away from Anfield to one of two destinations.
Salah is Liverpool’s leading scorer in Premier League and Champions League history, earning him legendary status at the club. Thanks to his form, there have often been contemplations of whether he could reach yet another level.
Indeed, for all of Liverpool’s success in the Jurgen Klopp era, a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid might remain the absolute pinnacle for an elite player.
And according to former Porto and Algeria attacker Rabah Madjer, Salah should be considering a transfer to either of the La Liga giants in the summer.
Madjer told Al Ain Sports: “Salah is a wonderful player and the pride of all Arabs. Liverpool are a very big team and they helped him exploit his talent, which is what Chelsea couldn’t do before.
“Renewing his contract would be a beautiful recognition of what he achieved at Anfield, but personally I hope to see the Pharaohs star wearing the jersey of one of the giants of Spanish football, Barcelona or Real Madrid. That way it would give his career a new impetus.”

Salah signed a new contract with Liverpool before the start of the current season. However, it has been a challenging campaign overall for the club.
With his 31st birthday coming up in June, Salah still has some strong years ahead of him. That said, the timeframe within which he could join another top club might be quite narrow.
Barcelona have already been speculatively linked with Salah for the summer as they aim to improve out wide. Whether they would be able to afford him is debatable, though.
Real Madrid might have other priorities, but may yet be worth keeping an eye on in case an opportunity to take Salah emerges.
Liverpool contract should send clear Salah message
As things stand, though, Salah is under contract on Merseyside until 2025. His terms are the best ever awarded to a player in his club’s history.
In theory, it should be enough to protect Liverpool from rival interest in Salah. It will be important for them to improve their form in the final weeks of the season, though, to remind the Egypt international that they are the right place to be.
Champions League qualification looks to be at risk for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Obviously, a player of Salah’s quality ought to be in Europe’s top competition – especially when he has still been putting up more than respectable numbers this season.
Only time will tell what his next step after Liverpool will be – and when exactly he might take that leap.
