Will respect order to exit bungalow: Rahul Gandhi - Times of India

panggilansaja.blogspot.com
NEW DELHI: Congress member Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday told the Lok Sabha that he will respect the eviction order issued for his Tughlak Lane bungalow as a result of his disqualification, even as Congress slammed the order as PM Modi's bid to "humiliate" the Gandhi scion for raising the Adani issue and asking questions about assault on democracy.
In a reply to Lok Sabha secretariat, Rahul said: "Thank you for your letter of March 27, 2023, regarding the cancellation of my accommodation at 12 Tughlak Lane. As an elected member of the Lok Sabha over the last four terms, it is the mandate of the people to which I owe the happy memories of my time spent here. Without prejudice to my rights, I will, of course, abide by the details contained in your letter."
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, however, called it Modi's bid to "threaten, scare and humiliate" Rahul.
While suggesting that Rahul can stay with his mother Sonia Gandhi at 10, Janpath, or he too can vacate his house for the Gandhi scion, Kharge lashed out at the alacrity with which the government is moving on the Congress MP.
"In a democracy, several times we have managed without a house for three-four months. I got this (official) bungalow after six months. People do these things to humiliate others. I condemn this attitude," Kharge said.
Congress whip in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi said, "For a person who walked from Kanyakumari to Kashmir for the unity and integrity of India, what fascination will he have for a government house? That person will go on fighting the battle of truth and will defeat ego and arrogance one day."
AICC spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said the entire drama starting from disqualification of Rahul to the eviction order is just designed to deflect the attention from the Adani scandal, but added that PM Modi has only ended up further training the focus on the issue. "Every citizen is now wondering why is the Prime Minister hellbent on saving one person - Adani," she said.
Continuing with its protest plan over the Adani scam and Rahul's disqualification, Congress announced a three-stage "Jai Bharat Satyagrah" till April end to take the two issues to people. AICC general secretary KC Venugopal said the party will from April 15-20 organise the satyagrah at district level, which will include gherao of district collectorates, while the same protest will be held at state level between April 20 and 30. The party will hold a "National Maha Satyagrah" in the capital in the second week of April.
Besides starting a social media campaign, the party's SC/ST/OBC/Minority departments will hold protests in state capitals on April 1.
