ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 11-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team fell, 70-65, to No. 14 Indiana at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Thursday night (Feb. 18) in a game that saw 17 lead change and 12 ties. Neither team led by more than six points, with Indiana using a 9-for-10 showing at the free-throw line in the final quarter to gain control.

The Wolverines were led by Naz Hillmon, who notched her 10th double-double of the season with 23 points and 12 boards, while Leigha Brown scored 19 points.

On the boards, Hillmon had game-high honors, while Emily Kiser pulled down seven to fall one rebound shy of tying a career-best. U-M once again dominated on the glass, outrebounding Indiana, 42-28.

Michigan and Indiana played an even first quarter until U-M put the Hoosiers on a 2:30 scoring drought and went up 17-13 with 2:03 to play. Neither team could find a basket in the closing two minutes of action as the Wolverines carried that four-point lead into the second quarter. Michigan was forced to play all but 2:30 of the frame without Hillmon, who picked up two early fouls.

Indiana hit four straight shots and take a 23-22 advantage, but it was short lived as Leigha Brown and Hillmon hit back-to-back shots with just over 5:30 to play in the first half. U-M hit five of its final six shots of the half, including a three-pointer from Hailey Brown, but headed to the locker room trailing, 37-35, at the halftime break.

Hillmon was 5-for-7 from the field in the opening half and made four free throws for 14 points, while Leigha Brown added eight and Hailey Brown scored seven.

The teams exchanged baskets to open the second half before the Wolverines went on a 7-0 run, capped off by a Leigha Brown three-pointer to stake Michigan a 46-42 lead heading into the media break. Back-to-back jumpers from Akienreh Johnson and Hailey Brown put the Maize and Blue up, 52-47, but four straight Indiana points brought the Hoosiers within one, 52-51, going into the fourth quarter.

The final quarter saw four lead changes, with Indiana going up by as many as four points until Leigha Brown made her second of two free throws to pull the Wolverines within two, 67-65, with 1:05 remaining. Michigan did not make a shot from the floor over the final three and a half minutes and the Hoosiers went on to victory. Indiana closed the fourth quarter making seven of eight free throws over the last 2:18 of the contest.

Michigan will return to Crisler Center on Sunday (Feb. 21) to host Ohio State at 2 p.m. It is Michigan's pink game and will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
