ACC Teams Ranked 1, 2 in AP Top 25 Poll
- For the 31st time in the history of the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, ACC teams are ranked No. 1 and No. 2. That mark is eight more than any other conference.
- Louisville is the nation's top-ranked team for the second consecutive week, while NC State is second in the nation.
- The Cardinals are the fifth current ACC member to occupy the No. 1 ranking, joining Duke, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Virginia.
- It also marks the eighth consecutive week that the ACC has had two teams among the top five in the country - the only league to have two teams among the top five of the same poll this season.
- Additionally, Syracuse and Georgia Tech are receiving votes.
- In the USA Today Poll, Louisville and NC State are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Syracuse is the first team out of the poll, receiving 45 votes.
ACC WBB in Net Rankings
- The NCAA released the first women's college basketball NET rankings on Monday, Jan. 4.
- Eleven ACC teams are among the 60 in the most recent NET rankings - the most of any conference. Louisville leads the conference at No. 6, followed by No. 8 NC State, No. 21 Georgia Tech, No. 37 Virginia Tech, No. 39 North Carolina, No. 40 Syracuse, No. 44 Clemson, No. 45 Florida State, No. 52 Notre Dame, No. 53 Boston College and No. 55 Wake Forest.
- The NET rankings will be used to select teams for the NCAA Tournament and are updated each day throughout the season.
Virginia Tech's Sheppard Breaks Program Record for Career 3-Point Field Goals
- Virginia Tech senior guard Aisha Sheppard broke the program record for career 3-pointers in Sunday's game at NC State, as she surpassed Vanessa Panousis for the top spot in the Hokie record books.
- She now owns 273 career threes, which is ninth among the ACC Career Record Books.
- Sheppard also leads the nation in threes this season with 54.
Last of the Unbeaten Teams
- Louisville and NC State are two of the nation's five remaining unbeaten teams. The Cardinals are 15-0 this season, while the Wolfpack is 11-0.
- The ACC is the only conference to have two remaining undefeated teams. Dating back to last season, NC State has won their last 16 games.
NC State's Cunane Named to Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watch List
- NC State junior center Elissa Cunane was one of 15 women's basketball players named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watch List announced on Tuesday. Cunane has helped NC State rank second nationally in defensive rebounds per game with 32.9.
- Additionally, she's averaging a team-leading 16.2 points, 7.5 rebounds per game and is shooting 58.2 percent (57-of-98) from the floor. All three of those numbers rank in the top 10 in the conference this season, with her field-goal percentage ranking third in the league.
Recapping the Last Time Out
- Five conference games were played on Sunday and an additional two games were contested on Tuesday.
- The home team won four of the five games on Sunday and one of Tuesday's games.
- Pitt completed the season sweep of Clemson with a 79-69 victory in the most recently played league game on Tuesday night. Liatu King and Destiny Strother led the Panthers with 15 points apiece, as Pitt completed its first-ever season sweep against an ACC opponent since joining the league.
- Led by a season-high 21 points from Elizabeth Dixon, top-ranked Louisville remained unbeaten with a 79-76 victory against Miami on Tuesday night.
Meier Approaching 300 Wins at Miami
- Miami head coach Katie Meier is just one win shy of reaching 300 wins with the program. In 16 seasons, she has amassed a 299-193 record with the Hurricanes.
- She will join Louisville's Jeff Walz (374-104) and Syracuse's Quentin Hillsman (311-163), as the only active ACC coaches with 300 or more wins at their current school.
- Meier would also become the career wins leader for the program with her 304th victory, as Ferne Labati, who led Miami from 1988-2005, compiled a 303-195 mark.
Top ACC Duos
- Virginia Tech's Aisha Sheppard and Elizabeth Kitley are the top scoring duo (37.1) in the ACC with the former averaging 18.8 points for second in the conference and the latter contributing 18.3 points per game, third most in the league.
- Wake's Ivana Raca (16.0) and Gina Conti (14.9) form the league's second highest duo at 30.9 points per game.
- In rebounding, the Syracuse duo of Emily Engstler (10.1) and Kamilla Cardoso (9.1) pace the conference at 19.2. North Carolina's Janelle Bailey (8.2) and Anya Poole (7.1) are the league's second-highest pair at 15.3.
Inside ACC Action
- To date, the ACC has played 112 of 141 scheduled women’s basketball games (79.4%).
- The home team has won 35 times and the road team has earned 19 wins in the 54 total conference games played.
- Eleven of the last 14 conference games have been decided by 10 points or less.
- The average margin of victory in ACC games is 11.7 points.
- Twenty-eight of the 47 games have been decided by 10 or more points and 16 games have been decided by five points or fewer.
- Syracuse's 99-64 win against Miami is the largest margin of victory in a conference game (35) and the smallest margin is two points, which has happened four times this season.
- Duke announced on Dec. 25 that they will not compete for the remainder of the 2020-21 season due to health and safety concerns stemming from COVID-19.
- Virginia announced on Jan. 14 that they will not complete the remainder of the 2020-21 season due to health and safety concerns.
ACC in NCAA Rankings
- ACC teams and student-athletes lead the nation and rank among the nation's top 10 in numerous categories.
- As a team, the Wolfpack is second in the nation in defensive rebounds per game with 32.9. North Carolina ranks 11th with 31.3 defensive rebounds per game.
- NC State and Louisville are among the top 10 nationally in field-goal percentage with the former shooting 49.2% and the latter, 48.3.
- Clemson leads the nation in rebounds with 683 this season.
- Syracuse ranks third nationally in blocks per game with 7.0, while Louisville is ninth in total blocks with 81.
- The Hokies are sixth in the country in 3-point field goals with 139 this season.
- Louisville ranks eighth in scoring margin at 22.5 and NC State is ninth with 21.5. The Wolfpack and Cardinals are tied for 13th in scoring offense (82.7).
- Individually, Syracuse's Tiana Mangakahia is second in the country with 7.9 assists per game.
- Virginia Tech's Elizabeth Kitley is second nationally in double-doubles with 10 on the year and is seventh nationally in defensive rebounds per game with 8.9.
- Syracuse freshman Kamilla Cardoso is ninth nationally in field-goal percentage at 59.6.
- Virginia Tech's Aisha Sheppard has hit 54 3-pointers to lead the nation this season, while Clemson's Kendall Spray has made 44 to rank sixth.
- Georgia Tech's Lorela Cubaj ranks ninth in the nation with 11.9 rebounds, while Virginia Tech's Kitley has also pulled down 11.9 to tie for the mark.
- Louisville's Dana Evans is eighth nationally in free-throw percentage with a 93.5 clip.
