AUSTIN, Texas — A school record in the 400-yard medley relay highlighted the No. 2 University of Texas Women's Swimming team's effort on Thursday evening during the second night of the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. The quartet of junior Julia Cook, freshman Anna Elendt, freshman Olivia Bray and sophomore Kelly Pash registered a time of 3:26.86, topping the previous mark of 3:27.74 set by Tasija Karosas, Madisyn Cox, Lauren Case and Rebecca Millard in 2017.

The performance also established the fastest time in the country this season. It topped Virginia's effort of 3:29.16 set in November. Cook's leadoff 100-yard backstroke leg of 51.15 marked a personal best and ranks No. 3 on the UT top performers list.

Texas swept all four events on Thursday evening and have won all six events over the first two nights of the four-day event. Senior Evie Pfeifer claimed victory in the 500-yard freestyle in a NCAA 'A' cut time of 4:35.73, No. 2 on the UT top performers list. Pash followed with a win in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 1:55.40, No. 4 on the UT top performers list. Bray claimed the title in the 50-yard freestyle (22.25). Bray's time of 22.13 in the morning prelims ranks No. 8 on the UT top performers list.

Meet Highlights

  • Senior Evie Pfeifer opened Thursday's action with a dominant performance in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a NCAA 'A' cut time of 4:35.73. Her time marked a personal best (previous: 4:36.04) and ranks No. 2 on the UT top performers list (Joanna Evans, 4:35.05). Sophomore Mary Smutny (4:48.23), sophomore Miranda Heckman (4:52.11), senior Grace Ritch (4:52.25) and senior Ella Tierney (4:53.73) finished second through fifth, respectively.
  • Sophomore Kelly Pash earned the victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a NCAA 'B' cut and personal-best time of 1:55.40 (previous: 1:55.91). Her time ranks No. 4 on the UT top performers list.
  • Freshman Olivia Bray won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.25. Her 22.13 in the prelims was a personal best and ranks No. 8 on the UT top performers list. Freshman Emma Sticklen (22.50), sophomore Kyla Leibel (22.62, personal best), freshman Grace Cooper (22.63) and sophomore Bridget Semenuk (22.72) placed second through fifth, respectively, and each recorded a NCAA 'B' cut effort.
  • The Longhorns closed the night in style, setting a school record in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:26.86 (previous: 3:27.74).
