STARTING FIVE
• Friday's game marks the second time in two years the Fighting Hawks will visit Williams Arena. Minnesota earned a 79-56 win last year against UND on Nov. 24, 2019. Gabe Kalscheur led the way last year against UND when he scored 18 points. In all, Minnesota had five players score double-digit points. This weekend's contest marks the 21st meeting between the two teams, all of which have been played at home with the exception of one game (Dec. 4, 1969).
• Minnesota is in the midst of playing its first six games of the season at home. The last time the Golden Gophers played six-straight home games to start the season was in 2016-17. The Gophers played an exhibition against Bemidji State, followed by six regular season games at home. The Gophers, who are 3-0 now in 2020, started the 2016 season 6-0.
Marcus Carr is off to a hot start, averaging 29.7 points per game. That currently ranks second in Division I, trailing only Iowa's Luka Garza at 33.5 in two games played. Carr also ranks second nationally in field goals made (31) and eighth in attempts (57).
Brandon Johnson started his first game as a Golden Gopher on Monday. Johnson, a grad transfer from Western Michigan, started in 91 career games for the Broncos. Both he and Curry have seen starting action this year at the forward position.
Marcus Carr was named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 Watch List Tuesday. Chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts, the list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball, the Wooden Award All American Team™ and Most Outstanding Player Award. Carr is one of 50 named to the watch list and one of 10 from the Big Ten Conference.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING HAWKS
• North Dakota is coached by second-year head coach Paul Sather. In his first year with UND,  Sather went 15-18. Prior to his time at North Dakota, Sather was the head coach at his alma mater Northern State, where he led the team the Wolves to the NCAA Division II championship game.
• Filip Rebraca was named to the Preseason All-Summit League First Team. Rebraca started all 32 games a year ago, leading the team and the league with 13 double-doubles. He averaged 14.3 points per game and leading UND with 8.9 rebounds per contest.
• UND welcomes six newcomers to the team in 2020-21, a trio of transfers (Caleb Nero - Weber State, Seybian Sims - Kirkwood Community College and Mitchell Sueker - South Dakota School of Mines) and three freshman Andrew Bergan, Tyree Ihenacho and Nate Shockey.
• UND is looking for its first win of the season after road losses to Miami (OH), 81-67 (Nov. 25) and Dixie State, 74-73 (Dec. 2). Caleb Nero leads the team in points, averaging 12.5 through two games.
• North Dakota was picked to finish sixth in the Summit League preseason poll. The Fighting Hawks finished in that spot a year ago and navigated their way to a title-game appearance under then first-year head coach Paul Sather.

UP NEXT
• Minnesota hosts Boston College, Dec. 8 at Williams Arena. The game is a part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
• Tip off is set for 6 p.m., on ESPNU while KFAN 100.3 FM will carry the Gopher Radio Network broadcast in the Twin Cities.
