MANHATTAN, Kansas – Kansas State head women's basketball coach Jeff Mittie announced the signing of three players to National Letters of Intent (NLI) during the Fall National Signing period on Wednesday.
The new additions to the K-State roster for the 2021-22 season are: guards Brylee Glenn, Jaelyn Glenn and Serena Sundell. The three players are familiar with one another, as they played together on the Missouri Phenom Pheesa team which went 25-2 during the summer of 2018 and won the Prague 17-and-under division of the 2018 Nike Tournament of Champions in Chicago.
"We went into this class wanting to continue to improve our guard depth as well as improve our three-point attack," said Mittie about his 2021 signees. "All three players compliment each other's skills, as well as the skills of the players currently on our roster."
Brylee Glenn, along with her twin sister Jaelyn, is a product of Raymore, Missouri. She enters her senior season at The Barstow School rated as the 75th ranked player in the nation by ProspectsNation.com and as the number seven player in the state of Missouri by Prep Girls Hoops.
In her high school career, Brylee Glenn is a Missouri Class 3A All-State selection, a three-time All-District 15 First Team and a three-time All-Crossroads Conference First Team selection. She has averaged over 17 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in the last three seasons.
In her junior season in 2019-20, Glenn averaged 23.4 points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals while helping the Lady Knights to a second straight conference title and District 15 crown.
"We love the way Brylee defends, competes and attacks the basket with aggression," stated Mittie.
Jaelyn Glenn moved into the top-60 of the ESPNW Hoopgurlz national rankings this summer, as she is ranked 54th in the nation and 21st ranked guard. Jaelyn Glenn is ranked 60th in the nation by ProspectsNation.com and the number six wing and is rated as the number one player in the state of Missouri by Prep Girls Hoops.
In her three-year high school career, Glenn is a is a Missouri Class 3A All-State selection, a three-time All-District 15 First Team and a three-time All-Crossroads Conference First Team selection.
Jaelyn Glenn holds the Barstow School records for points in a single-game with 58, rebounds in a game with 22 and 3-point field goals made with eight. Her 58 points in a game ranks 10th all-time in the state of Missouri, while her 22 rebounds rank 20th all-time.
In her career, Glenn has averaged over 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and 1.5 steals in every season of competition. In her junior season, Glenn tallied 20.3 points, 10.8 rebounds, three assists and 2.5 steals while helping the Lady Knights to a second straight conference title and District 15 crown.
"Jaelyn can play 1-4 and can impact the team with her passing and scoring ability from all areas of the floor," said Mittie.
Sundell joins the Wildcats from Maryville, Missouri, and Maryville High School. Sundell is rated as the number three player in the state of Missouri by Prep Girls Hoops. She is also a four-star prospect and is on the 2021 watch list for ProspectsNation.com.
In the 2019-20 season, Sundell averaged 24 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals and helped the Spoofhounds to a District title and Midland Empire Conference (MEC) title. For her efforts, Sundell was named the Class 3 Player of the Year by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA), a Class 3 All-State selection by the MBCA and also collected her third career All-MEC First Team honor and third straight All-District First Team honor. During the season, Sundell scored a school record 52 points in a single game, a record she has reset five times in her career.
Sundell is a two-sport star, as she has been a highly-decorated volleyball player for the Spoofhounds in the last four seasons. She is a four-time All-District and four-time All-MEC selection. In the 2020 season, Sundell helped Maryville win the Class 3 title with 26 kills, eight digs and three service aces in the title-clinching match. She owns the school record for career kills and attack percentage.
"Serena is a very talented player with excellent three-point range and the ability to play away from the ball," said Mittie about the two-sport athlete.
K-State was selected for a fourth-place finish in the 2020-21 Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll. The Wildcats will be led into the season by unanimous Preseason All-Big 12 selection and 2021 All-America candidate Ayoka Lee and Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection Rachel Ranke.
Kansas State returns nine letter winners for the 2020-21 season. K-State also welcomes in graduate transfer Sydney Goodson, junior Makayla Pippin, redshirt freshman Jada Thorpe from injury and freshmen Taylor Lauterbach and Jada Moore.
The Wildcats will open its 2020-21 season with an exhibition game on Wednesday, November 25, at Fort Hays State. K-State will then begin a seven-game home stand in non-conference action on Sunday, November 29, against Southern at 1 p.m.
