Beavers score game-winning touchdown with 33 seconds left
Box Score CORVALLIS – Chance Nolan scored the game-winning touchdown with 33 seconds left to lift Oregon State to a rivalry win 41-38 over Oregon Friday evening at Reser Stadium in Corvallis.
Nolan's fourth-down run capped off a 55-yard drive that began with under two minutes to play, as the Beavers landed the last punch in a back-and-forth matchup. Oregon State didn't take its first lead until the fourth quarter, and neither side led by more than 12 at any point.
Jermar Jefferson rushed for 226 yards, a record for the Oregon State-Oregon rivalry game, and the 11th-most yards by a Beaver running back in any game. Jefferson also scored a pair of touchdowns in the contest, including an 82-yard first-quarter run.
Tristan Gebbia threw for 263 yards in the game, and accounted for one touchdown on the ground and another through the air. Kolby Taylor finished with seven receptions for 114 yards, including a pair of important catches on the Beavers' final drive. Trevon Bradford had eight receptions for 93 yards.
Avery Roberts came up with 12 tackles in the contest, while Andrzej Hughes-Murray notched 3.5 tackles for loss. Jaydon Grant came up with an important interception on a second-quarter Oregon drive.
The teams traded punches in the early stages of the game, as some big rushes from Jefferson, including his 82-yard touchdown, put the Beavers within a score of 14-10 less than two minutes into the second quarter.
Oregon took a 24-13 lead into halftime.
The Beavers got back within a single score six minutes into the third quarter, as Gebbia hit Zeriah Beason for an eight-yard touchdown strike.
Oregon State scored back-to-back touchdowns early in the fourth quarter to take its first lead of the contest, before Oregon answered to go in front 38-34 with under nine minutes to play. The Beavers converted on their third-consecutive quarterback sneak attempt for the game-winning score.
The Oregon State-Oregon rivalry series is presented by Safeway-Albertsons, Spirit Mountain Casino, PacificSource Health Plans, Your Local Toyota Dealers and First Interstate Bank.
The Beavers will hit the road next week for a matchup with Utah.
