MERIDEN, Conn. (WFSB) - At least one person is seriously hurt after a car rolled off the road into the wooded area next to a soccer field.

The city of Meriden said all activities at Kronenberger Park have been canceled, and the park is closed.

Meriden Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Dunn said the crash occurred on the I-691 Eastbound off ramp by Preston Avenue, near where I-691 turns into Route 66.

The crash occurred at around 2:57 p.m.

Eyewitness News spoke to a few people who live in the neighborhood.

They say there was a soccer game going on when the crash happened.

Thankfully, it was on the opposite side of the field and nobody else was hurt.

The off-ramp is currently closed, according to DOT.

Connecticut State Police are investigating. It is not clear what exactly caused the crash at this time.

Serious injuries have been reported.
