The High Point University men's soccer team (1-2) host Cornell (0-1) in a midweek matinee in Vert Stadium on Tuesday afternoon (Sep. 7) at 2:30 PM. HPU hosts the Big Red after being in action last on Thursday on the road against Virginia. Cornell played Wake Forest on Saturday their southern road trip concludes in High Point on Tuesday afternoon.
Attending The Game Tomorrow
Parking will be available in the Steele Center lot in front of Vert Stadium which can be accessed by entering the gate on Panther Drive. Overflow parking will be available at College Village Shopping Center.
Panthers vs Ivy League
This is High Point's first meeting with Cornell or any team in the Ivy League. Tuesday afternoon marks the first time HPU has played an Ivy League school in men's soccer.
A Look at Cornell
The Big Red face HPU in just their second game of the season after opening the season against Wake Forest. Saturday's game against the Demon Deacons was Cornell's first game since 2019 after not playing in 2020. Cornell was picked second in the Ivy league in 2021. The Big Red's lone goal scorer so far in the young season is Emeka Eneli who scored the equalizer for the Big Red in the last ten minutes of their contest with Wake Forest.

HPU fell 2-0 against the University of Virginia on Thursday night (Sep. 2) in the Panthers' third-ever trip to Klockner.

In the 39th minute against UVA, goalkeeper Holden Trent was given a red card and was ejected from the contest. The Panthers then fell to ten men for the remainder of the game. Ricardo Ceballos made two saves cold off of the bench on penalty kicks in his first-ever college game. Ceballos held UVA scoreless for the second half all 45 minutes.

The Panthers have won 11 straight games in Vert Stadium. The first win in Vert this season was HPU's win over #25 Coastal Carolina 1-0. It was HPU's first ranked win since defeating #5 Duke 1-0 in 2018. It was HPU's first ranked win in Vert Stadium since 2016 when The Panthers defeated #25 Radford 1-0. HPU's last loss in Vert Stadium came in 2018 when High Point hosted the first NCAA Tournament game in institution history against #28 James Madison in November of 2018.
