VANCE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- An investigation is underway in Vance County after a woman was found dead near an I-85 exit ramp Thursday afternoon.
On arrival, officers found a woman with apparent injuries to her left leg and "neck area." She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was called to assist in the investigation.
Just before 3:30 p.m., deputies were called to the northbound exit and on-ramp near Exit 220 (US-1) in reference to a woman who had possibly been stabbed.

Authorities have not released the name of the victim.
