Baltimore, Md. –  The Washington College baseball team dropped both games of their doubleheader at Johns Hopkins on Saturday afternoon at Babb Field. The Shoremen are now in a three-way tie for second place in the Centennial Conference as they fell to 11-5 (5-3 C.C.) while the Blue Jays improved to 5-3 (5-3 C.C.).

How It Happened
- The hosts scored five runs in the bottom of the second off Shoremen starter Mike Smith and never looked back. Designated hitter Mike Ainsworth drove in the opening run with an RBI infield single and third baseman Mark Lopez blasted a grand slam to cap the frame.
- Hopkins went ahead 6-0 in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single to right field by catcher A.J. King.
- The Shoremen cut the deficit in half with three runs in the top of the seventh but that was all they would get in the contest. Center fielder Ben Ruvo drove in designated hitter Dylan Nepert with an RBI single up the middle and left fielder Max Ruvo followed up with an RBI double to right center. Right fielder Chris Baker made it three straight hits as he drove in Max Ruvo with a ground-rule double to left-center

For the Shoremen (11-4, 5-2 C.C.)
- Hitting:  Baker (4-for-5, RBI, 2B, Run), Max Ruvo (3-for-5, RBI, 2B, Run)
- Pitching: Smith (Loss, 6.0 innings, 9 hits, 6 Earned Runs, 2 BB, 2 Strikeouts)

For Johns Hopkins (4-3, 4-3 C.C.)
- Hitting: Lopez (1-for-3, HR, 4 RBI), A.J. King (3-for-3, RBI), Ainsworth (2-for-2, RBI)
- Pitching: Peter Schaefer (5.0 innings, 5 hits, 2 BB, 6 Strikeouts), Brian Linton (Save, 2.1 innings, 2 hits, Strikeout)

How It Happened
- Washington College took a 1-0 advantage as they scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning. Second baseman Jack Kingman delivered an RBI groundout to plate left fielder Max Ruvo.
- The hosts answered right back in the bottom of the frame as designated hitter King lifted an RBI sacrifice fly to plate second baseman Matthew Ritchie.
- The Blue Jays grabbed a 2-1 advantage in the bottom of the fourth when left fielder Ainsworth singled through the right side to plate right fielder Austin Sacks.
- Baker got the Shoremen even in the top of the fifth with an RBI groundout to shortstop that plated Ben Ruvo.
- Johns Hopkins went ahead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning as catcher James Ingram homered to right center.
- The hosts added two unearned runs in the seventh after Max Ruvo dropped a fly ball with two outs in the frame. King and Sacks came through with RBI singles for the Blue Jays.
- Hopkins put the game out of reach with three insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth. Center fielder Isaiah Winikur and first baseman Jared DeFaria recorded RBI singles and Ingram was hit with the bases loaded.

- Hitting: Max Ruvo (2-for-3, Run), Kingman (1-for-4, RBI), Baker (0-for-3, RBI, BB)
- Pitching: Jonah Frankel (Loss, 4.0 innings, four hits, two earned runs, 3 BB, 5 Strikeouts)

- Hitting: Winikur (2-for-4, RBI), Defaria (2-for-4, 2 Runs, RBI), King (1-for-3, 2 RBI), Ingram (1-for-3, 2 RBI, HR).
- Pitching: Jack McRae (Win, 2.0 innings, Hit, 3 BB, 4 Strikeouts), Kieren Collins (5.0 innings, 5 hits, 1 Earned Run, 6 Strikeouts).
