Andy Cohen is setting the record straight on Teddi Mellencamp’s exit from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
Mellencamp, 39, confirmed her exit from the Bravo show on Tuesday via social media and fans began speculating that she was let go because of the controversy surrounding her All In accountability program. Past participants alleged that they were restricted to eating 500 calories a day while having to perform an hour of cardio.
Cohen, 52, explained on his SiriusXM radio show Wednesday that he actually would have preferred to see Mellencamp address the claims on-camera, but that ultimately was not his decision.
“Now there’s a whole controversy online about her business,” Cohen elaborated. “I do want to say, people are speculating that the online chatter about her business led to her dismissal. I just want to say, because I think it’s important, that one had absolutely nothing to do with the other.”
He added that while he never participated in the program, he had heard nothing but good things about it. Cohen said that “Flipping Out” star Jeff Lewis and his team were talking about the program recently.
“I remember them saying they went through the All In program and they did not have bad things to say about it,” he went on. “I think they said they were hungry, but he said that that program taught him how to order food in restaurants.”
Cohen also commended Mellencamp’s exit announcement.
“I thought [it] was one of the most no-BS ‘I’m leaving’ announcements on record,” he said. “That was really good. I have to say, everyone has just been through it. The year, like it’s not many people for whom this year has been good for. She had some major health stuff with her kids.”
Mellencamp and her husband, Edwin Arroyave, welcomed their daughter Dove in February. The baby was diagnosed with lambdoid craniosynostosis this summer and underwent neurosurgery in July. The couple also shares son Cruz, 6, and daughter Slate, 7. Both have had injuries this summer as well.
