July 20
2017 – Rowing – The United States Rowing Under 23 National Team, led by Blue Devils head coach Megan Cooke Carcagno, set a world record in the women's eight race at the World Rowing U23 Championships in Bulgaria. Cooke Carcagno guided the women's eight to a U23 world-best time of 6:00.350, breaking the former mark by three seconds and qualifying the US group for Sunday's championship race.
 

July 21
2006 -- Men's Lacrosse -- Duke University announced the hiring of John Danowski as the men's lacrosse head coach. Danowski was unanimously recommended by an eight-member committee following a national search. Since 2006, Danowski has led the Duke men's lacrosse program to new heights both on and off the field. The Blue Devils have won more games, 199 in all, since 2007 than any other Division I program. Among the 199 victories are three NCAA Championships and four ACC Championships. Danowski currently stands as Division I lacrosse's winningest coach with 418 career victories. 

2017 – Track & Field – Duke freshman Katelyn Gochenour earned third place in the javelin throw while representing Team USA at the 2017 Pan-American Junior Championships. The first-team All-American, who set a Duke school record in the javelin three times during the previous outdoor season, registered a mark of 165-10 feet (50.56 meters) to take third in Peru.
 

July 22
2001 – Women's Basketball -- Alana Beard, Monique Currie, Wynter Whitley and the 2001 USA Basketball Women's Junior World Championship Team claimed the bronze medal with a 77-72 victory over Australia in Brno, Czech Republic.  Beard hit 5-of-10 field goals with four rebounds, one assist, four steals and one blocked shot.

July 23
 2014 – Track & Field – Recent Duke graduate Curtis Beach was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) indoor field Scholar-Athlete of the Year. A psychology major who graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.45, Beach concluded his indoor career as a Blue Devil by winning a national title in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March of 2014.
 

July 24
2003 - Women's Basketball -- For only the second time in school history, a Duke University student-athlete was named the winner of the Mary Garber Award as Alana Beard was selected the top Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) female student-athlete for the 2002-03 academic year. Beard was selected as the ESPN.com and Victor Award recipient as the National Player of the Year.

2004 – Women's Basketball -- Alana Beard was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Female Athlete of the Year for the 2003-04 academic year. Beard became the fourth female athlete to garner the Mary Garber Award in back-to-back years, having been named the ACC Female Athlete of the Year in 2003 as well. The Shreveport, La., native was named the State Farm Wade Trophy, Associated Press, USBWA and ESPN.com National Player of the Year.

2005 – Women's Basketball -- Former Duke head coach Gail Goestenkors along with Blue Devil Abby Waner guided the 2005 FIBA Women's U19 World Championship Team to a 97-76 victory and the gold medal in Tunis, Tunisia.  Waner totaled 12 points and four assists in the 97-76 victory over Serbia & Montenegro in the gold medal game.

July 25
2006 -- Men's Basketball -- J.J. Redick, winner of the Sullivan Award as the country's top amateur athlete, was named the 2005-06 Atlantic Coast Conference Male Athlete of the Year. Redick received the Anthony J. McKevlin Award as the league's top male performer, and award that was named in honor of the former sports editor of the Raleigh News & Observer.

2014 -- Men's Golf -- Incoming freshman Adam Wood fired a closing round 66 to climb the leaderboard and claim medalist honors at the 2014 Northern Amateur. The Zionsville, Ind., native finished with a seven-under 209 for a two-shot victory at Sand Creek Country Club.
