The board of Bank of Marin has announced that its longtime chief executive, Russell Colombo, plans to delay his retirement to provide stability during the coronavirus pandemic.

The board said it suspended its work with an executive recruitment firm that was vetting candidates for the position.

Chief executive since 2006, Colombo, who currently sits on the Independent Journal editorial board as its public member, announced his retirement intentions in September. He said he planned to remain in the post until the Novato-based bank appoints a successor.

In other bank news, Timothy Myers was recently promoted from head of commercial banking to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Jake Nguyen was hired as senior vice president and commercial banking regional manager. David Mears was named vice president and commercial banking officer of a new San Mateo office to open next month.
