YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Patrick Lackey of New Wilmington, Pa., appeared as a contestant on “Jeopardy!” at the wrong time.

The Westminster College professor had been trying to get on the quiz show for years, and he finally did on Thursday. Unfortunately, he had to compete against Amy Schneider, who extended her winning streak to 37 days at Lackey’s expense.

The California woman finished first on Thursday’s episode with an incredible $71,400, bringing her total winnings to $1,253,200.

Lackey finished second with $5,000. The third contestant finished in the negatives.

Lackey, a biochemistry professor, is a native of Hermitage, Pa., and a graduate of JFK High School in that city. Schneider will continue her run on the show today and if she wins she will move into a tie for second-longest winning streak.

The record for longest “Jeopardy!” winning streak is 74, set in 2004 by Ken Jennings – who is the host of the show. “Jeopardy!” airs at 7:30 p.m. on WKBN-TV.
