DOT: Westbound exit 9 ramps in Newtown to be closed 5 nights

The westbound I-84 on and off ramps at exit 9 in Newtown will be closed for five nights starting Sunday.

The ramps will be closed each night, beginning at 8 p.m. and will reopen at 5 a.m. the following morning.

“The closure and detour are necessary for ongoing construction and safety improvement activities,” the state Department of Transportation said.

Detour information

• Westbound Exit 9 off-ramp: Take exit 8 and follow signs to I-84 eastbound to detour.

• Westbound Exit 9 on-ramp: Follow Route 25 to Route 6 to detour.
