The Youngstown State track and field program captured two event titles during day one's action of the 2021 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships from Farmers National Bank Field in Youngstown.

Noah Drudy (javelin) and Olivia Jones (javelin) earned event victories for the Penguins.

YSU sits atop the men's leaderboard in following Friday's action, tallying 41 points. Oakland trails the Penguins and is in second place with 25 points.

The women's program, too, reigns atop the standings with 35 points. RMU is second with 24 points.

Drudy captured the event title in the javelin throw, posting a personal-best mark of 60.83m on his second attempt. Close behind, Noah Weese earned the silver with a 57.50m throw. Also making the final flight, Riley Wright finished eighth with a personal-best throw of 41.63m.

Completing the javelin sweep, Jones secured her event title with a personal-best mark of 43.80 while boosting the Penguins reign in the event to four consecutive years. Fellow thrower Cambrie Campbell posted a second-place finish in the event with a throw of 39.77m. Rounding out the YSU finishers in the event, Camryn Jarrett posted a 31.48m mark to finish ninth.

Zach Gray (48.82) and Brock Grundy (48.33) tallied personal bests in the discus throw to post two top-3 finishes in the event, finishing second and third place, respectively.

In the women's event, Sammy Dyson set a new personal best in the discus, posting a 46.72m throw en route to bronze medal finish on the day. Dyson's mark sits third all-time in program history.

Emily Bee is the clubhouse leader heading into Saturday's final trio of events in the heptathlon with a score of 2,996 points. Bee set a new facility record and personal best in the heptathlon high jump, clearing 1.67m while going on to win the individual event. Her jump sits tied for the ninth-best women's high jump in school history.

Running a personal best 4:42.69 in the 1500m run, Natalie Fleming secured a spot in Sunday's final heat by running the seventh-quickest time of the preliminary heats. The races is scheduled to go at 11:15 a.m.
